Common questions

Is the Markdown viewer free?

Yes. Viewing is free and needs no account. To get a link without an account, the file can be up to 2 MB and the link lasts about 15 minutes. Sign in to keep it. A new account gets Pro free for 7 days, no card. After that, a link on the Free plan stays online while it's opened at least once every 90 days, and shows a small Litehost badge.

Is my text uploaded when I paste it?

No. Your browser formats it. Your text is only sent to Litehost when you click "Get a link to this page".

How do I open a .md file?

Click "Open .md file" above, or drag the file onto the box. It shows formatted next to the text. On a phone, tap "Open .md file" and pick it from Files.

Can I convert Markdown to HTML?

Yes. "Copy HTML" copies the HTML of what you see in the preview. "Download HTML" saves it as a page you can open in any browser.

Which Markdown does it support?

GitHub-style Markdown: headings, lists, links, images with a web address, tables, task lists, code blocks and quotes.

Can I send a .md file to someone who doesn't use Markdown?
