Before you send it: use MP4 with H.264

A file plays only if the browser knows the format inside it. MP4 with H.264 video plays in current browsers on phones and computers. HEVC from an iPhone and ProRes from editing apps often don't. If the player above stays black, export the video again as MP4 (H.264) before you send it.

Already sure it plays? Video to Link and Video to QR Code skip the player.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the MP4 player free?

Yes. Playing a video here is free, needs no account and has no size limit, because the video stays on your device. Getting a link is free too: up to 2 MB without an account (the link lasts about 15 minutes), and up to 25 MB if you sign in to get the link. A new account gets Pro free for 7 days, no card.

Is my video uploaded when I play it?

No. Your browser plays the file from your device. It's only uploaded if you click "Get a link to this video".

Why won't my video play?

It's usually the format inside the file. iPhone videos recorded as HEVC ("High Efficiency") and ProRes files often don't play in Chrome or on Windows. Try Safari, or export the video as MP4 with H.264, which plays in current browsers on phones and computers.

Can I play a MOV file?

Often, yes. A MOV with H.264 video plays in most browsers. A MOV recorded in HEVC may only play in Safari.

How do I send the video to someone?

Click "Get a link to this video". The person opens the link in their browser and gets a player with a Download button. They don't need an app or an account.

What if my video is larger than 25 MB?

Create a free account and upload it from your dashboard. The 7-day Pro trial has 5 GB of storage. After it, the Free plan takes uploads up to 5 MB and Starter ($8 a month) holds 500 MB.
